We have an excellent opportunity for a flexible and professional team player with outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills to join our busy team at The Donkey Sanctuary Kenya (DSK), Nairobi office. As Human Resource (HR) Officer, you will provide support and advice to all Donkey Sanctuary Kenya (DSK) staff, consistently demonstrating best practice and ensuring that HR policies, procedures and standards are applied fairly, reasonably and consistently. You will build and maintain positive relationships, bringing our Values and Code of Conduct to everyday working practices and coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal compliance policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and charity standards.

About you:

  • Diploma or higher qualified in Human Resource management with post qualification experience.
  • Registered member of IHRM and completion of yearly CPD requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience of policy & compliance development and implementation.
  • Experience of data recording, monitoring, and reporting of HR, policy and compliance information.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – fluent in English and Kiswahili.
  • Competent IT skills and experience of using Microsoft Office software.

 

About the role:

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include –

  • Providing HR support, including developing and leading on programmes to enhance employee relations and create a positive work environment.
  • Ensuring employees are paid correctly and receive the benefits they are entitled to.
  • Implementing and managing the performance management system – guiding managers in the processes and providing regular feedback and coaching.
  • Coordinating professional development opportunities for TDSK employees and collaborating with wider charity departments to provide learning opportunities for all staff.
  • Maintaining and fostering a strong organisational culture, implementing initiatives as required.
  • Coordinating recruitment processes with stakeholders, taking accountability for candidates’ recruitment experience and providing a quality onboarding process for all new employees.
  • Helping protect the workplace and ensuring a safe working environment.

 

The contract:

Based at TDSK offices, Nairobi, this is a full-time, fixed term contract starting as soon as possible until 30 April 2030, working 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility may be required for occasional evening and weekend work and for regional travel.
