We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, organised, and proactive individual to join our team in Ethiopia as a Driver and Logistics Officer. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our programme and operational objectives by providing reliable transportation services, coordinating logistics activities, and ensuring the effective management of vehicles, assets, and supplies. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the smooth and efficient delivery of our work while supporting colleagues across the organisation. In addition, you will play a critical role in facilitating the safe movement of personnel and materials, maintaining vehicle readiness, supporting procurement and warehouse activities, and ensuring compliance with organizational, security, and safety standards. Through these responsibilities, the Driver and Logistics Officer helps enable the timely delivery of Program/project implementation in country.

About you:

  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent demonstrated experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' professional driving experience, preferably within an NGO/INGO, UN agency, or similar international organisation.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience supporting logistics operations, including fleet management, warehousing, inventory control, procurement, and/or asset management.
  • Sound understanding of logistics processes, with practical knowledge of procurement procedures, inventory management, and asset control practices. Proven experience operating vehicles safely in remote, challenging, and/or insecure field environments.
  • Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot basic mechanical issues.
  • Experience maintaining accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel consumption records, and transport documentation.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Valid, clean driving licence appropriate to the vehicle class required.

About the role:

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include –

  • Provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation services for staff, visitors, and organizational materials.
  • Ensure vehicles are operated in accordance with organizational policies and Ethiopian traffic regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date vehicle logbooks and ensure accurate recording of vehicle usage.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and fuel consumption.
  • Support procurement processes through collection, delivery, and tracking of purchased goods.
  • Receive, store, and record office supplies, fuel, stationery, equipment, and other stock items.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to the office.

What we offer in return:

Currently the post is based at The Donkey Sanctuary Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, Bole Road, Birhany Building, 1st Floor, Next to Bon Royal Hotel – this is a full-time permanent contract starting as soon, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday 08:30 – 17:00.

There may be occasions when the post holder may be required to work at another location considered reasonable by the Charity.

Please note, the post holder must have the legal right to live and work in Ethiopia. Local employment legislation, salary (including currency and core working hours), and any benefits applicable in Ethiopia will apply.
