Do you love donkeys?
Would you like to help make a difference?
Can you spare the gift of time?
Then come and join our family!
The Donkey Sanctuary is one of the UK’s largest international animal welfare charities, currently supporting projects in over 35 countries worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.
Volunteers have been at the heart of our work for over 15 years and will be an integral part of the charity reaching its goals in the future. They are involved in a multitude of ways across the organisation – welcoming visitors to The Donkey Sanctuary at our brand new Visitor Centre, in our shop, in our award winning restaurant, at our Donkey Assisted Therapy Centres, and at the many events we host throughout the year. They also offer support behind the scenes – with our wonderful donkeys, in our offices, our green spaces and much, much more…
Do you have great communication and people skills? Do you see yourself as an ambassador assisting us with car parking and offering our visitors a friendly and positive welcome during their visit to the sanctuary?
Your contribution will make a real difference to donkeys and mules round the world.
We want to involve you in being part of the Visitor Welcome Team at our beautiful sanctuary in Sidmouth. If you are happy to be on your feet and enjoy being busy and working outdoors, then this is the ideal role for you.
Welcoming visitors to the sanctuary and helping them to park easily, you will be good at thinking on your feet, working with others by co-ordinating the parking when the sanctuary is at its busiest in the holidays and when we are holding an event. You will enjoy talking to the visitors about the charity and what is happing on the day they visit, acting as an ambassador and sharing your passion for the work of The Donkey Sanctuary to help people get the most out of their visit.Experience in a visitor facing role is a real bonus as being able to communicate in a calm and professional manner at all times is one of the key skills we are looking for in this role - along with the ability to be on your feet working outside for the duration of your volunteering shift.
Ideally it would be 10am to 4pm but we can be flexible with the duration of your shift within these house, we are grateful for your help and can talk this through on an individual basis with you. Once a week would be great or more often if you are available during school holidays and Donkey Sanctuary events.
If you are aged 16 or over, enthusiastic and have regular free time you can offer, then we would love to hear from you. If you would like to find out more information about volunteering at The Donkey Sanctuary in this role please call us on 01395 578222 (Monday-Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm)
