The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland (TDSI) works as part of an international animal welfare organisation, offering care and protection to donkeys and mules worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.

Do you have a passion for Donkeys? Would you like to help make a difference?

Then come and join our family!

Volunteers have been at the heart of our work for over 15 years and will be an integral part of the charity reaching its goals in the future. If you’re a true team player with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and would like to give the gift of time to The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland, we are looking for a volunteer to support the Visitor Experience staff with all aspects of planning and delivering successful Fundraising activities and Events. This will include assisting with the smooth running of established and new initiatives throughout the year, in line with the aims of TDSI’s Business Plan. Customer facing duties will be a high priority in this role, so that both existing and potential supporters feel valued and well looked after whilst visiting the site.

About YOU …..

  • Friendly and approachable demeanour.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure
  • Self-motivated with a flexible attitude
  • Able to present a positive and professional image on behalf of TDSI at all times
  • Willing to complete TDSI Volunteer, GDPR and safeguarding training

You will be able to help us with …….

  • Supporting the general running of fundraising events, liaising with key stakeholders, assisting with enquiries and speaking to visitors.
  • Providing an informative and warm welcome when supporting visitor centre-based events, conveying consistent messaging on our service and wider work of the Charity.
  • Assisting with all aspects of event hosting, such as providing refreshments, keeping communal areas clean and tidy and providing directions.
  • Undertaking any cash handling that may be required, for example, ticket sales, adoptions and general donations.
  • Assisting with the preparation, display and distribution of promotional materials prior to events and with the take down procedures afterwards.
  • Hosting tours of the visitor centre and its grounds for clients and supporters, using scripts to convey facts about the charity, donkeys worldwide and promoting donkey status.
  • Developing and support initiatives aimed at promoting and encouraging volunteering with the charity.

After completing a 1-day induction, you will be a true ambassador for The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland, representing the charity in a positive way at all times, demonstrating our values of compassion, collaboration and creativity. We welcome applications from all who are able to join us on an ad-hoc basis for events and weekend support throughout the summer months.
