We have an excellent opportunity for a flexible and professional team player to join our busy Estates and Facilities Department. As Steel Fabricator, you will assist with the fabrication and installation of steelwork throughout The Donkey Sanctuary, ensuring all work is completed to a high quality and meets the necessary requirements and standards.

About you:

• City & Guilds qualification/NVQ in fabrication and welding and relevant steel fabrication
• Experience of mig and arc welding.
• Experience of installing steelwork, including levelling and setting out Installations.
• Experience of interpreting blue prints and fabrication drawings.
• Good organisational skills with experience of working on a variety of projects.
• Able to work unsupervised and as part of team
• Strong IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications e.g. word & excel.
• Full valid driving licence.

About the role:

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include –

• Ensuring welding tasks (use of mig and arc welding) are carried out to a high quality standard.
• Fabricating structural steelwork, e.g. portal frames, etc.
• Fabricating fixtures and fittings, e.g. stabling, gates, doors, covers, gratings, shelter bases etc.
• Reviewing blueprints, fabrication drawings or other instructions to determine material requirements and operational methods.
• Assisting with the installation of steelwork, including levelling and setting out installations.
• Planning, organising and prioritising work and estimate quantities needed.
• Planning, laying out and examining metal stock and workpieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met and signing delivery notes when required.
• Driving plant machinery, including fork lift, telehandler, powered access.
