The Donkey Sanctuary is an international animal welfare organisation, offering care and protection to donkeys and mules worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.
We have an excellent opportunity for an efficient, proactive and personable administrator to support the activities of our People Team. With experience of working to tight deadlines in a fast paced, high volume environment, and possessing strong communication and customer service skills, you will act as first point of contact for all People Team enquiries, responding to routine queries from employees in a timely, accurate and helpful manner, and using good judgment to escalate complex matters as required. Able to demonstrate an understanding of HR principles and processes, you will undertake all administration associated with the employee cycle, including contracts and safeguarding checks for new starters, contractual changes, length of service awards, absence and leavers.
You will assist with regular audits of the people management system to ensure integrity of data is maintained and GDPR compliant, and in the implementation and improvement of People Team systems and procedures, and will liaise closely with other departments within the charity, including our Recruitment, Payroll, Compliance, Procurement and Communications teams, ensuring that the service provided by the People Team is of the highest and most consistent standard. Given the nature of this vital role, excellent diplomacy, collaborative, organisational, prioritising and problem solving skills are essential, as is the ability to maintain a high level and accuracy and a stringent attention to detail while working with a number of conflicting and pressing demands. Previous experience of working within an HR department or people team, and an understanding of the importance of data security are desirable.
