The Donkey Sanctuary is an international animal welfare organisation, offering care and protection to donkeys and mules worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.

We now have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced fundraising professional to join our senior management team at The Donkey Sanctuary, Ireland.  Possessing substantial income generation and excellent donor service experience, you will oversee, manage and grow annual donated and commercial income to our Ireland operation in line with annual targets, as part of the process of achieving greater sustainability for the organisation.

Possessing demonstrable experience of managing projects and delivering to deadlines, you will lead on the development of our five year Income Generation Strategy that aims to significantly grow income from individual giving, legacies, philanthropy, trusts and on-site fundraising and commercial activities, and will proactively identify new fundraising and income growth opportunities , securing organisational support and investment in these opportunities. You will effectively lead, manage and motivate the Income Generation Team through a period of substantial growth, ensuring team skills are continually developed, and that staff are set targets in line with the charity’s strategic aims and objectives, and fully understand their contribution to the success of the organisation. This role will be part of the Senior Management team and will report in to Director Ireland.

With a proven track record of establishing, building and maintaining successful working relationships with internal and external supporters, you will work closely with key personnel in all Donkey Sanctuary Ireland and UK departments to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our supporter interactions, processes, data and analysis, and to ensure relevant policies and procedures are in place to protect supporters, members of the general public and their data. Highly proficient and well-developed numerical, writing, communication and motivational skills are essential, as is the ability to make good decisions under pressure, and to deal with a diverse number of conflicting demands and timescales.  Legacy, philanthropy, lottery and/or trust fundraising experience, and that of working for an animal welfare charity, is desirable.

If you feel you have the qualities, skills and experience to fulfil this varied, rewarding and vital role, and would like to be part of the evolving program of change taking place within the charity, we would love to hear from you.  This is a full-time, permanent contract starting as soon as possible.

Closing date for completed applications: Friday 20 March 2020.

The Donkey Sanctuary is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable people (children and adults), and expects all staff and volunteers to undertake this commitment. Applicants will be subject to safer recruitment processes, and may be Garda vetted where required for the post. The Donkey Sanctuary is an equal opportunities employer.
