The Donkey Sanctuary is an international animal welfare organisation, offering care and protection to donkeys and mules worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.
We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced and proactive administrator to join our busy finance department. Possessing an excellent attention to detail, you will process the weekly payroll, including checking weekly timesheets and employee expense claims, paying holiday pay, logging company car mileage records and summarising all overtime hours, highlighting anomalies to the Payroll Manager, and raising and following up queries with departmental Managers.
You will support the provision of the charity’s UK monthly payroll, checking payslips to ensure all overtime and other pay adjustments have been imported to payroll software and are reflected accurately, and will compile and distribute payslips to Donkey Sanctuary employees. Additional duties will include assisting with the logging of supplier invoices to support the Accounts Payable function. Excellent communication, IT and prioritising skills are essential, as is the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality while dealing with a number of conflicting demands and deadlines. Experience, and an understanding, of accounting and payroll systems, and HRMC payroll rules and procedures is desirable.
If you feel you have the qualities, skills and experience to fulfil this varied and rewarding role, and would like to be part of the evolving programme of change taking place within the charity, we would love to hear from you. Based in Sidmouth, Devon – an area of outstanding natural beauty – this is a part-time, permanent contract starting on 1 October 2019, working 21/25 hours per week. The working pattern will be agreed between the line manager and the post holder.
Closing date for completed applications: Friday 23 August 2019.
The Donkey Sanctuary is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable people (children and adults), and expects all staff and volunteers to undertake this commitment. Applicants will be subject to safer recruitment processes, including an application for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check where required for the post.
