The Donkey Sanctuary is an international animal welfare organisation, offering care and protection to donkeys and mules worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.

We now have an excellent opportunity for a proactive and flexible individual to join our Marketing and Communications department as Digital Marketing Assistant. Reporting to the Senior Digital Marketing Coordinator, you will support the Digital Marketing and wider Digital team in their day-to-day delivery of the digital marketing strategy across owned, paid and earned channels. You will work closely with the Digital Marketing, Content and Fundraising Coordinators on content generation for our digital marketing channels, focussing on appealing to our target audiences and current supporters in a positive and engaging way.

Your principal duties within this varied and rewarding role will include:

  • Writing and editing social media copy for all departments as required
  • Content creation for social channels using both photo and video editing software
  • Monitoring incoming social media activity including comments and direct messages, engaging in a timely and appropriate manner where required
  • Assisting with the delivery of fundraising and commercial activities to maximise the charity’s digital income generation and supporter stewardship opportunities
  • Assisting the Digital team in communications activity in line with the charity’s Marketing and Communications strategy
  • Assisting the Digital team on digital best practice, helping to ensure these standards are adhered to across the charity
  • Helping to research and introduce new and effective digital trends to ensure the charity is using digital marketing channels in the most engaging way.

Previous working experience and a proven track record in creating engaging content for social media channels, social media community management and reporting, together with a good base knowledge of digital marketing and fundraising, is essential, as are a high standard of communication, I.T., copywriting and customer service skills, and the ability to maintain an excellent attention to detail while working with a number of conflicting demands and deadlines. Experience of using Facebook Business Manager, Google Analytics, social media monitoring, ecommerce implementation & maintenance and Digital and Social Media trend awareness is desirable.

If you feel you have the qualities, skills and experience to fulfil this varied, rewarding and vital role, and would like to be part of the evolving programme of change taking place within the charity, we would love to hear from you. This is a full-time, permanent contract starting as soon as possible, working primarily from home, with the flexibility to work at our main site in Sidmouth, Devon, as required.

Closing date for completed applications: Sunday 31 October 2021.
