The Donkey Sanctuary is an international animal welfare organisation, offering care and protection to donkeys and mules worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.
For more than 40 years, The Donkey Sanctuary has provided donkey assisted activities for children in the UK and overseas. Over the past four decades the programme has evolved to enable the provision of interactive, psychosocial, Donkey Facilitated and Equine Assisted Learning Programmes that utilise mutually enriching interaction sessions aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of donkeys and critical life skills of vulnerable people.
We now have an excellent opportunity for a Centre Manager to co-lead our dedicated team at The Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre in Ivybridge. You will effectively lead, support and manage the centre and its staff to ensure the delivery of effective, high quality donkey-facilitated learning sessions to vulnerable people both at the centre and as part of our outreach activities in the community for schools and residential and care homes. You will provide an effective service to the centre customers and charity supporters, proactively growing fundraising and supporting the delivery of donkey-facilitated learning across the community. Possessing strong motivational skills, you will provide leadership to the centre team of employees and volunteers to efficiently and effectively achieve agreed goals and objectives, and monitor the standards of service to ensure consistently high standards are maintained.
Proven experience of working with vulnerable people, an understanding of their needs and the difference that donkey facilitated learning can make in their lives, and knowledge of safe-guarding and safe working practices are essential, as are strong management and coaching experience, and excellent communication, organisational and collaborative skills.
If you feel you have the qualities, skills and experience to fulfil this varied, rewarding and vital role, and would like to be part of the evolving program of change taking place within the charity, we would love to hear from you. Based in Ivybridge, Devon, this is a full-time, permanent contract starting as soon as possible.
Closing date for completed applications: Sunday 27 October 2019.
The Donkey Sanctuary is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable people (children and adults), and expects all staff and volunteers to undertake this commitment. Applicants will be subject to safer recruitment processes, including an application for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check where required for the post.
