The Donkey Sanctuary is an international animal welfare organisation, offering care and protection to donkeys and mules worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.
These are exciting times for the Charity, as we embark upon an evolutionary period of improvement and development within the organisation. Embracing a new approach to strategic planning and transformation and recognising the need to invest in our resources, we now have an excellent opportunity for a Change Manager to join our Business Strategy & Programme team in Sidmouth. You will play a key role in ensuring large-scale projects of strategic significance deliver the expected outcomes and benefits by focusing on the cultural and people side of change to mitigate impacts, increase employee engagement and drive adoption of solutions. Reporting to the Senior Project and Change Manager, your main responsibility will be to create and implement change management strategies and plans for allocated change projects, which empower and prepare employees for changes to processes, systems, technology, policies and working practices.
You will lead on developing change management strategy for assigned projects, working across the organisation to deliver targeted engagement, specific to stakeholder needs, resulting in improved change capability and the successful delivery of strategically important outcomes. With practical experience of mentoring and training others in the use of change management methodologies, you will influence and motivate staff across The Donkey Sanctuary, at all levels, including Executives and Senior Managers, and will work with all staff affected by the change projects to facilitate change readiness, and achieve successful change.
A proven record of working alongside senior managers in a change management role, and of creating and implementing new processes which result in improvement, are essential, as are exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle a number of conflicting demands and timescales without compromising quality. A recognised formal programme, project or change management qualification (APMP/Prince2/MSP/Change Management Practitioner or equivalent), and experience of working in complex multi-site organisations or in the not for profit sector, are desirable.
If you feel you have the qualities, skills and experience to fulfil this varied, rewarding and vital role, and would like to play a pivotal role in shaping the evolving programme of change taking place within the charity, we would love to hear from you. Based in Sidmouth, Devon – an area of outstanding natural beauty – this is a two-year, full-time fixed term contract starting on 1 December 2021.
Closing date for completed applications: Wednesday 6 October 2021.
The Donkey Sanctuary is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable people (children and adults), and expects all staff and volunteers to undertake this commitment. Applicants will be subject to safer recruitment processes, including an application for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check where required for the post.
