The Donkey Sanctuary is an international animal welfare organisation, offering care and protection to donkeys and mules worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.
Our Procurement Team works to ensure that The Donkey Sanctuary makes the best use of its resources by seeking value for money on our third party spend, offering advice and guidance on purchasing and supply issues, managing supply chain risk and providing operational support. We work with a network of UK and internationally based suppliers covering such diverse categories of spend as animal welfare, feed and veterinary supplies; utilities, building and facilities management products and services; capital equipment and projects; marketing and communication services and IT and telecoms, general administration and professional services.
We have an outstanding opportunity for a proactive individual to join our Procurement Team. Possessing demonstrable experience of working within an administrative role and excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, you will provide administrative support to the team and act as first point of contact for all team enquiries, providing advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders concerning supply agreements.
Your principal duties within this varied and rewarding role will include:
Excellent time management, organisational and planning skills along with the ability to solve problems and learn from previous experience will be important. The successful candidate will be competent in the use of Microsoft Office and be offered training in the use of the charity’s internal systems. It will be essential to have a positive, confident personality and to use your excellent communication and customer service skills to build relationships with key stakeholders including your internal colleagues and suppliers. Previous experience of working in a procurement environment or an understanding of procurement best practice would be an advantage.
If you feel you have the qualities, skills and experience to fulfil this vital role, and would like to join a team that is playing a major part in the evolving programme of change taking place within the charity, we would love to hear from you.
