These are exciting times for the Charity, and we have an excellent opportunity for a proactive and flexible professional with outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills to join our dedicated International Programmes and Projects team in Ethiopia. Working closely with the Country Director and the UK based Programmes and Partnership Advisor, as Finance and Administration Manager, you will ensure that The Donkey Sanctuary Ethiopia is compliant with organisational and national policies and procedures. Your duties within this vital and rewarding role will include analysing, supervising, and reporting on financial activities, providing advice and guidance to management on future financial plans and managing the HR and administrative functions.

About you:

  • A University degree in accounting or relevant subject and/or Certified Public Accountant Part 2 (or equivalent) completed.
  • Demonstrable experience in accounting and financial management of an organisation based in Ethiopia, preferably in the NGO sector.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing HR and the administrative function of an Ethiopian based organisation.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisational skills and the capacity to analyse and prioritise needs.
  • Able to work under pressure to meet regular and timebound deadlines.
  • Knowledge of financial/accounting report and data mining tools.

 

About the role:

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include –

  • Managing an efficient and consistent office accounting operation, ensuring all accountancy procedures are carried out in line with local legislation and Charity policies with accuracy and integrity of all data processed.
  • Managing the finance, human and physical resource of the Donkey Sanctuary operations in Ethiopia, including day to day supervision of administration staff.
  • Supporting the Country Director to ensure compliance with policies relating to HR policies and procedures, Safeguarding, Health, Safety and Security.
  • Preparing, producing and processing detailed annual budgets and regular re-forecasts aligned to financial accounting systems and processes.
  • Continually reviewing and developing finance processes and procedures to support the effective operation of all parts of the Ethiopia office.
  • Preparing end of year accounts for in-country external audit and to the UK finance team within the timeframes set out by TDSUK.
  • Periodically reporting on the financial health of the Ethiopia office and working with UK finance team to present accurate and timely financial and management information to the Director of Finance UK.

 

The contract:

Based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this is a full-time, permanent contract starting as soon as possible, working 37.5 hours per week, 08.30-17.00, Monday-Friday.

The working pattern for this role will combine onsite and home working under our guiding principles for such roles, with attendance at the Addis Ababa office currently anticipated to be 3 days per week.
